here. And the pictures from a few weeks ago (which I forgot to tell y’all about) are here.

So I watched
Lovely & Amazing while I was exercising a few weeks ago, and when I’d finished watching it, I told Fred about it.
“Yeah, that guy who was in the movie with Jennifer Aniston, who was married and she had an affair with him…”
“Jake Gyllenhaal*,” Fred provided.
“Right. He’s in Lovely & Amazing, and he’s a kid who has an affair with a married woman in that movie, too!”
“Huh. He’s typecast!”
“I know. He had an affair with Catherine Keener in Lovely & Amazing. I don’t usually like her, but I liked her in that movie.”
“Catherine Keener. Why does that sound familiar?” Fred asked.
“Oh, she was in
Malkovich,” I said.
“I didn’t see that movie,” he reminded me.
“Oh, right. She was also in
Living in Oblivion.”
“I didn’t see that either,” he said.
“Right.
If These Walls Could Talk?
Boys?”
“Nope.”
“Oh, I know,” I said. “I always point her out to you because she’s married to Dylan McDermott.”
“Oh.”
Long pause.
“Not Dermot Mulroney?” he teased.
“Oh shit, I think I meant Dermot Mulroney,” I admitted. “Dylan McDermott was Bobby**, right?”
“Right.”
“Okay, she’s married to Dermot Mulroney.”
Am I the only one who mixes those two up all the freakin’ time? It’s got to be the fact that they both have “dermot” in their names.
*I totally typed “Gyllenhaal” without having to look it up, because I am JUST THAT GOOD.
**On The Practice.

I was teasing Fred this morning about a woman that he loathes.
(No, not YOU.)
Yeah, yeah, you hate her guts, I emailed to him.
And yet, I suspect that when I die tragically young, you’ll end up with her.
He emailed me back immediately.
You’re already too old to die tragically young.
Bastard.

Someone asked in my comments whether I enjoyed
Year of Wonders, which I finished reading a few days ago.
I did, I enjoyed it a lot more than I expected to. It seems that the books I’m not looking forward to reading all that much tend to really surprise me.
Last night I started
The Next Accident, by Lisa Gardner. I actually made a mistake in that I read
The Killing Hour last week, which she wrote after The Next Accident, and has some of the same characters, so I know some of what’s going to happen in this book.
It’s still really good, though. I think I need to just go ahead and put all the books she’s written on my wish list so I remember that I want to read more of her stuff.
Also,
Hostage by Robert Crais was really good, too. It had me on the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading it. Which is funny, because I wasn’t looking forward to reading it at ALL. Because Fred read it, and kept exclaiming that it was the best book he’d read in a long time, and it made me not really want to read it, because what if I hated it? Then he’d be all disappointed because you know how it is – if you like a song or book, you want everyone else to like it too.
But I loved it, and he was right. That so rarely happens that it deserves a mention in here. (Heh!)

“How YOU doin’?”

Robyn,
I mix up Dermot Mulroney and Dylan McDermott all the time! I thought I was the only one! hee!
Stopit Robyn, you’re making applesauce come up my nose. I thought I had it under control after Fred’s email, then I saw the kitty. My god that is a great caption. The other thing that came to mind was the “I’m too sexy” song.
Have you read The Da Vinci Code yet? And if so, how did you like it? And if not, are you planning on reading it? Thanks !!
“You’re already too old to die tragically young” now that is a classic and also HILARIOUS!
Around the time that “My best Friend’s Wedding” came out, those two guys were frigging everywhere, people were calling both of them Dermot McDylan and referring to the fella you’re talking about as “the mouth breather one.” That’s how I remember it anyway.
West Wing kitties. Hee. Where are Josh, Toby and Donnatella Moss?
Robert Crais is the shit. Also, Harlen Coben, Michael Connelly and Dennis Lehane. Discovered them all in a clump a couple of years before “Mystic River” came out. Lehane’s series about the Boston PI was great- sort of wish he’d write another installment, but I think he’s wrapped it up.
GM Ford is good too- but he seems to have wrapped up his Leo Waterman series and I don’t like the Frank Corso series as well. But I get a tickle out of the Seattle setting because I watch enough news out of there that I know a fair amount about the city without having visited.
If you guys like Crais, you’ll likely enjoy those guys.
What a sexy man you have. No, not Fred. I’m mad at him – telling you that you are too old to die tragically. Hey – I’m older than YOU! How rude! 😉 If you were a witholding type, I’d tell you make him wait a month. :-0
Robyn, I think you like Stephen King? Have you read ‘From a Buick 8?’ I’ve gotten about 35 pages into it so far and it’s just… blergh… worth wading through it?
Ami – I did read the Da Vinci Code. I liked it, but I don’t think it deserved quite as much attention as it got – good, but not great, you know? Also, the end dragged on quite a bit.
Dez – After a few years of reading Harlan Coben, I finally got Fred to try one of his books, and he loved it so much that he ended up buying every other Harlan Coben book in existence. He’s read almost all of the Myron Bolitar books; I’m waiting until he’s done, and then I’m going to start the series. We also read Michael Connelly and I’ve read a couple of Dennis Lehane books and liked them. I’ve never read GM Ford, though – I’ll have to give him a try.
Catriona – As much as it pains me to say it, I’d recommend giving up on “From a Buick 8”; it was my least favorite of all his books.
Amanda luvs Spanky!
Yes, I mix them up ALL the time. Both hotties, though.
Oh, and that is the SEXIEST cat I have EVER seen. Rawr!
Have you read Lisa Gardner’s The Perfect husband?, it’s good.
The Spankster just makes my engine purrrrrrrrr in that pic…whatta babe!
He is the epitome of laid-back, come hither, kitty cool.
Oh, Spanky! I just want to hug him and squeeze him and pet him and kiss him. What a sweet photo.
i mix them up ALL THE TIME! and i too thought i was the only one!
