If I had the slightest bit of drawing talent, I’d make a cartoon of myself with cats and kittens hanging off me in every direction, a cottage cheese container containing a stool sample (from a kitten, wiseass) in one hand, and a cat carrier in the other. I made so many trips to the vet last week with stool samples that I’m almost out of the convenient cottage cheese containers I use to carry them in.

Which reminds me – I find it very annoying that you can get single serving containers of nonfat plain yogurt but not regular-fat plain yogurt. I occasionally give cats and kittens dabs of yogurt with Forti-Flora mixed in. I don’t do it often enough to need a big container of yogurt, but I like to have yogurt on hand. What I ought to do, really, is make my own yogurt. But that seems like more work than I want to do, considering we don’t really eat yogurt.

I really need to get my ass to Kohl’s or to the mall and buy some decent bras. I have one that fits well, which I really only wear if I’m going out in public. At home, I almost always wear sports bras, because they’re so comfortable.

Okay, clearly I have nothing to say. Let’s move on to the cats, shall we?

As of last night, I can report that miss Ciara is doing well and should be ready to head off to Petsmart on Friday. I suppose I COULD take her today (adoption hours are held tonight), but I want to make sure she’s okay for real, and not just teasing me.

I can’t get over what a sweet, sweet girl she is. I think she got a little overshadowed by her brothers, and now that they’re gone, I can see what a gem she is. Sweet, friendly, playful, nice to other kitties. She’s the total package!

More pics from last week.

Clove thinks about making a jump at Coriander. (We’ve been calling Coriander “Alice, Jr.” because Fred never learns any of the fosters’ names, so instead of continually calling her “The one that looks like Alice” so he’ll know who I’m talking about, I’ve resorted to “Alice, Jr.”)

Clove stole that toy from Cillian. He’s too gentle for his own good!

Oh, that little face. Couldn’t you just kiss her?

If you’re going to look like a pouty princess all the time, you might end up with the nickname Pouty Princess, brat.

Fergus Simon, on the platform in the kitchen. Yeah, I’d say they made themselves at home while they were here.

  1. Easi-yo. Makes a load of yogurt and only takes 2 minutes. Also, it’s way better than any yogurt I’ve ever bought

  2. Yeah, it pisses me off that it’s so hard to find real yogurt. I can always find that terrible no-fat stuff, though. Ick.

There’s more nonfat “food” available than ever before and people aren’t getting any thinner, are they? I never see a thin person eating nonfat food or drinking diet soda.

    Fred’s 2002 comment above had me chuckling. I know, I know…mentally I’m twelve.

  3. Up in the north states I’m pretty sure I’ve bought Dannon plain (fatty-fat) yogurt in the single serving sizes. You can freeze yogurt pretty reliably so in theory you could get a big container, divvy it up into smaller tuppers and freeze them for future one time use. Why I didn’t think of this for myself until 30 seconds ago is beyond me…I’m always buying the big containers and having the last half go bad. Possibly because decanting yogurt sounds like work I don’t want to do right then.

    1. How on earth did it never occur to me that I could freeze yogurt? Good lord! That makes life a whole lot easier for me, yogurt-wise, thanks for the tip. 🙂

  4. I don’t know from Kohl’s because there’s none near where I live. They may do this, but in case they don’t: I highly recommend you treat yourself to a bra fitting and spend a little extra to get a good quality, well fit bra. I’ve been working with the same gal at Nordstrom for years. She even calls me as their anniversary sale approaches to let me know if my style is on sale and makes sure I get the colors/sizes I need. It makes all the difference in fit and look, if you know what I mean.

    1. Oh, I’ve had a professional bra fitting – the bras I prefer are a bit cheaper at Kohl’s, especially when I have a 15% off coupon. 🙂

  5. I second the motion on a bra fitting. It is priceless to have that professional fit. Dillards sometimes has the Wacoal rep come in for special events, but they always have someone there in the department who will fit you. Well worth it. Especially since it is free!

  6. Regarding your 2006 entry request? NO PROBLEM! I can’t do anything for 63 hours, much less *that.* 😀

      1. You know who’d really be amazed? ROBERT. He’d want video, of course…63 hours’ worth.

  7. Love the Alice jr. nickname. We currently have 3 foster. My brothers boss found 4 kittens in her yard. My brother knew I would take them in, the boss is highly allergic so he went to pick them up but they could only find 3 of them (and now if course I am a holy wreck worrying about that 4th out there by itself!!!!)The boss said there is an adult cat around too with the kittens so hopefully it is the mama. I really think someone dumped them because these kittens are way too friendly to have been born in the wild. No hesitation with humans at all. VERY snugly! There are two black and one tiger striped (is that a tabby??)ONe of the black ones has thee HUGE almost orange eyes, she always looks surprised or scared so we have taken to calling her Boo! And the other black one is …..Not Boo!

They are just the sweetest things and I would keep them in a heartbeat if we didn’t have 8 cats already (we are slowly following in your footsteps)…although I wouldn’t mind keeping Boo! She likes to curl up under my neck and lick my nose. Hopefully we can find homes for them. We don’t have any no kill cat rescues around and our local animal shelter just took in over 40 cats from a hoarder! Robin- if any of your readers are from Northeast PA and interested in adopting a kitten, put them in touch with me!
