Coltrane.
2006ish – June 19, 2011.

Somewhere in his travels between our house and his other home, in the early hours of this morning, Coltrane wandered too close to the road and was hit by a car.

We buried him in the spot where he liked to hang out the most, beside the garden shed. He loved to nap there in the sun.

We’ll miss him an awful lot, especially in the evening when it’s time to feed the pigs. If we never saw Coltrane at any other time, we knew we’d see him then. We’d hear the undergrowth rustling, and he’d slink out to keep us company, talking with his distinctive high-pitched voice. We only knew him for about a year, but it seemed like he’d been part of the Crooked Acres landscape forever.

He was an absolute sweetheart and we are all the better for knowing him, even if only for a short time.

  1. Robyn, I’m SO sorry! He was such a handsome boy and a perfect addition to the Crooked Acres Gang. He also had one TERRIFIC life, and that’s what it’s really all about. Sending hugs and good thoughts to all the And3rs0ns. 🙁

  2. I am so sad for you guys. I loved Coltrane. The oranges and buffs are always my favorite. I loved how chunky his little legs look (like Newt). He will surely be missed.

  3. He seemed like such a laid-back sweetie, and a handsome one at that. He reminded me of the first cat my parents adopted a few years ago, Bozo. I’m so sorry for your loss.

  4. 🙁 So Sorry, Robyn and Fred and to all his kitty friends too. I’m sure his time at Crooked Acres enhanced his life just as his sweet presence enhanced yours. It’s too bad some lovely serendipitous things end far too soon.

  5. Oh no, I am so sorry! I know you will miss him. He had a happy life at Crooked Acres, with all the love and care that comes with being an Anderson kitty.

  6. You have my deepest sympathies… it is so hard and always breaks the heart when they leave. He had the best home ever and was well loved. I am sure he will still always be right there when you are doing snacks with the pigs, watching over things at Crooked Acres.

  7. Oh no, that’s terrible. I know he will be missed but in his short stay at your home he was well cared for and he was happy. He was such a handsome cat. Sending you hugs..(((Robyn & Fred)))

  8. I’m so sorry to hear this. Rest easy, Coltrane. Hugs to everyone at Crooked Acres.

  9. So sorry. Coltrane had a wonderful life, with over-flowing love from you, Fred, and Crooked Acres critters. Sorry he left too soon. RIP sweet Boy.

  10. I’m so sorry. What a sweetie-pie he was. Reminds me of our orange tabby, Harry, who died last summer at around the same age. But I’m so glad that Coltrane got to spend the last year being loved and cared for by you & Fred.

  11. Oh Robyn.. I’m so sorry for your loss. He was a beautiful boy, and you guys gave him so much comfort, companionship and love. I know his little heart would’ve wished for a way to thank you for that. *Hugs* to you both. I too will miss that sweet kitty. 🙁

  12. Robyn, I’m so sorry to hear this. He was such a pretty boy and reminded me of my Aunt’s cat, Chad. I know he had a good life with you and Fred, but it’s always hard to lose a cat. Hugs to you both and all his cat friends. 🙁

  13. So sad to hear about this. He seemed like such a sweet, mellow little guy. I’m glad he was part of the Crooked Acres family, even if he didn’t always stick close to home.

  14. Oh, Robyn. I am so sorry. You don’t have to know them a long time to become attached to them. For them to become “yours”.

Peace to you. (crying as I write this)

  15. Darn it! I got nervous when I saw you did a entry today because you usually don’t do Sunday entries unless there’s some kind of news. Bummer but he had it good with you two for the last year. He was such a pretty boy. Sorry, Robyn.

  16. That first picture of him is so good. I know you will miss him for a long, long time. My heart aches for you.

  17. Sorry to see him go. You and Fred gave him an awesome home and he’ll keep his eye on you from the bridge.

  18. Oh, no!! I am so very sorry for the Crooked Acres loss. Coltrane will certainly be missed.

  20. Him was a good-boy…
He was so lucky to have you two to love him and make him an Anderson.
My thoughts are with you and Fred.
    xoxo
