“Today’s not your day, and tomorrow’s not looking so hot, either.”

Those of you who’ve asked whether Maggie’s really pregnant, all I can say is that they checked her over at the clinic and told me she was ready to pop at any time. Last year, Maura was tested, but I don’t think she was actually examined. All I can say is that Maggie’s nipples are way more prominent than Maura’s ever were and that I spend way more time than I would have ever believed possible discussing a cat’s nipples. Fred has counted Maggie’s nipples and informed me that there are eight. Which is nice to know. I think.

Only time will tell whether she’s really pregnant; I believe she is. But how likely is it that I’d end up getting TWO cats that I thought were pregnant but really aren’t, after all?

(Oh, wait. We’re talking about ME, aren’t we? That certainly increases the odds!)

  1. I’m glad you addressed that question because it’s the first thing I thought of when I read the first line. What a pretty mama! I love that her belly is swingin’ from side to side. I just love Alice’s little fang face.

    1. Oh. My. God. SO FREAKIN’ CUTE! And I love the look on the mother’s face, like she’s thinking “How much catnip DID I sniff last night??”

  2. I don’t think she’s ready yet. She def. will stop eating when its close – but I think she will get a little bigger than she is. Depends on how big the babies are. Tabitha’s babies were big, and she waddled and got huge (6 kittens). Snoopie wasn’t that big, had 8 small babbies. (she wasn’t healthy tho)

imo, she’s not ready to drop yet. Now wait, she’ll have them tonight 🙂

  3. When my cat Misty had her babies, she was all over the place the day before and morning of labor. She was jumping from one place to the next and was very restless. I had to report for jury duty the morning she had them so I missed the action but I knew it was coming because she lost her mucus plug (which I found on my pillow!!!), when I came home she met me at the door (very unusual) and gave me a “I’m a proud mama come look at what I did” look. She led me to the birthing box and hopped in and got on top of them. I was only gone for about 4 hours, so she must have started popping them out right after I left.
