Grey’s Anatomy spoilers in this section; skip to the next if you haven’t seen the most recent episode.
First of all, Izzy totally fucked up when she told George that he needed to make Meredith listen to him. What I think she should have said was “George, you should take the fact that she doesn’t hear you as a sign. You deserve someone who not only hears you, but WANTS TO HEAR EVERY WORD YOU SAY.”
I mean, Meredith and George? Um, NO. Her fucking eyebrows freak me out, because they’re too LONG for her face. Seriously, they’re about 6 inches longer than they need to be.
Also, does anyone else think that McSteamy bears a striking resemblance to (an older, hotter) Leonardo DiCaprio? I think it’s the eyes, but the first time I saw him in the “Coming next week” commercial at the end of the last week’s episode, I totally thought it was Leo, and had to go back and rewatch it a few times before I determined that it wasn’t.

Sunday night Fred and I watched the first four episodes of the first season of
CSI. Holy hot dog! That’s a good freakin’ show!
(I know, I know, y’all TRIED to tell me!)
The thing that’s really awesome is that we’ve discovered that we really like the show, so now we have five or six years’ worth of shows to watch! That’ll take us months! Woot!
Gary Dourdan (Warrick Brown) has got the most beautiful eyes. I kept saying that while we were watching the show, “He’s got beautiful eyes!” They’re the most interesting grayish bluish green I’ve ever seen. Fred thinks George Eads looks just like Sean Hannity. I’ve loved Marg Helgenberger since she was KC on China Beach, and William Petersen since he was Will Graham in Manhunter.
I’ve already been told that once we’re finished watching all the episodes of CSI that are out, we will NOT be checking out
CSI: Miami, because Fred loathes the ultra pale and pasty David Caruso. And we probably won’t be watching
CSI: New York, because I watched a couple of episodes when it first came on, and though I adore Gary Sinise I can’t stand the lighting on that show. I had no idea New York City has such a funny blue tinge to it. No wonder they’re always killing each other up there.

reading:
She Got Up Off the Couch, by Haven Kimmel. I started this book last night, and had the hardest time putting it down again. I’m wishing like hell I’d kept
A Girl Named Zippy, because I’d love to re-read it after I finish She Got Up Off the Couch. I’ve never read any of Haven Kimmel’s fiction, but I have two of her books, and I think I’ll give them a try in the near future. Her memoirs are amazing books, and if you’re looking for something that’ll make you laugh out loud one minute and break your heart the next, I suggest you give these two a try.
I’m having a run of really good books, lately – I finished
Vanishing Acts by Jodi Picoult last night and loved it, and before that I read
Cell by Stephen King, and loved that, as well.

Finally someone who agress with me! I can not watch NY CSI either, the show is so dark and depressing! I got into CSI Vegas a few seasons late too. As a former LV girl, I just love spotting out “hollywoodness” of their creative writing. They love to use real places, but they aren’t always geographically correct.
Tommy is a high.speed.kitty!
Robyn, you’re in for a treat. The further along you get into CSI, the better the acting gets. Also, thanks for all of your book recommendations. We have similar tastes so I always check to see what you said about a book before I buy it. No pressure though! 🙂
I love Haven Kimmel! A Girl Named Zippy is one of my favorite books, I did re-read it after I finished She Got Up Off the Couch. I’ve read her fiction too, she is a wonderful author.
Robyn,
I said the exact same thing about Izzy. I practically yelled at the screen. Maybe we need to cut her some slack since she is preoccupied with other things : ) CSI is the best out of the three Shows.
I want to thank you for writting about re-reading your favorite books (I never thought to do this)- just recently for the first time in my life I am re-reading books. I am on my third Stephanie plum book, it’s even better the second time around. Yes, I am a Dork : )
Oh, CSI: NY got rid of that “film noir” feeling after a few episodes and it’s now extremely viewable. Give the show another try…it’s a great show for people who love NYC.
I agree, CSI is the best. (Although I hate what Eads did with his look this season. He looks like a cheesy 70’s porn star.) I loathe David Caruso, but watch Miami because the rest of the cast is so good. And this year NY lighten up both the tone and the color of the show. No more weird blue! But Las Vegas is still the best! Welcome to the club!
Aw, you remembered!
I wish I could comment on the tv stuff, but I don’t have cable.
LOVE Sugey’s little mouth…
Loved “A Girl Named Zippy.” It is one of my favorite books, especially when she is playing cards with her dad, and some cards are girl cards and some cards are boy cards.
I’m glad to see she has other books! Yay!
The ending of Grey’s Anatomy this week bothered me so much I actually blogged about it too! Meredith + George = Ellis (Meredith’s mom) + Thatcher
The best thing that could come out of George (most likely) getting hurt? Hopefully he’ll get over Meredith and move on!
Da Sugs reminds me of my sons when they would fall asleep after a hard morning of playing! He throws himself into sleep just like he throws himself into life- Kick some ass and take names!
I said the same thing about McSteamy — totally hotter Leo. My friend didn’t see it, so I’m glad you did!
Ditto on George and Meredith. They are both such great characters and they are both too freaking smart to do this to themselves. Although I LOVE Grey’s Anatomy, I fear that pretty soon everyone will be paired off and will have slept with everyone else and it’ll turn into ER. I think the only person on ER who never slept with Carter was Dr. Romano.
Hmph, I LOVE me some CSI:Miami……CSI:Vegas comes in a close second:) Shoulda listened to yer sister:P
I love the original CSI, and watch the NY version (but not Miami). I’d read somewhere that in the future, they were going to lighten up CSI: NY, lighting and storylines. Not sure where that was, probably E! Online. A few weeks ago George Eads had a porn star mustache. I’m so glad he got rid of that.
Marg Helgenberger is one of the only women I know who manage to look younger as each year goes by: Lord knows what she’s doing, but I want some of that!
I never noticed the coloring on CSI: NY, I guess I’m weird. But when Melina Kanakaredes (the main chick) mentioned how much brighter it is on the Ellen Degeneres show I paid attention during the next show and sure enough it was definitely clearer then I remembered it being.
McSteamy could so play Leo’s brother. The very first glimpse of him I saw it and then for the rest of the hour it was hard to not think about it.
SPOILER ALERT DON’T READ IF YOU HAVEN’T WATCHED!!
As far as G & M go I’m sorta glad it’s happening. I wanted to cry for George as soon as she turned to him because I just know it will end in tears for him but this way hopefully he’ll be able to get on with his life as Dora said. I actually think he and Izzy would make a great couple.
Great shout out to Haven Kimmel – she’s not kidding kids. Haven’s memoirs are some of the best stuff I’ve ever read.
Do Tommy and Sug also have to wear the shock collar thing you got for the Boog? It looked like they had some hunk of something under their chins in these pictures I don’t remember noticing before. Did they escape or are you begin cautious? They are SO CUTE!!!
Penny: It’s a “just in case” thing. They’re both so active and into everything, that I don’t doubt they’d climb the fence or find a hole to squeeze through if it wasn’t for the collars!
Another person weighing in to say that they fixed CSI NY after the first season and this (the second?) season is much better. The original one is still the best and Miami is virtually unwatchable, but NY is good for a slow night.
AHA! I love LAURIE – I completely stopped watching ER after I turned it on one night and the first fifteen minutes of the show had nothing to do with anything in the ER, it was all about the couples.
I like all of the CSI’s, but then again, I have a red-headed geek fetish, so David Caruso doesn’t bother me.
Oh My God, I hate CSI Miami. I don’t know how David Caruso’s character can possibly do any work with one hand always in a pocket, the other always dramatically removing his sunglasses, and always posed just ‘so’. It just wears me OUT.
Oh, and I was a latecomer to the original CSI as well. I had many months of catching up and it was A-w-e-s-o-m-e!
I don’t watch Grey’s Anatomy (yet!) so I don’t know nuthin about all that.
Can someone please tell me who the actor is that played McSteamy on Grey’s Anatomy? I think I’m in love. My husband mentioned the Leo thing too but I couldn’t see it at the time. I think I was too busy drooling in the corner.
I am so glad that you decided to keep Sugarbutt. I love pictures of him and that pink nose. Not that I don’t enjoy pictures of your other cats, but Sugarbutt is just too cute!
McSteamy (that totally was my favorite set of lines in the ep “Great, I’m just going to go choke on some McVomit!”) was Eric Dane, who has done guest appearances on tons of shows and is married to Rebecca Gayheart (Betty on that ” little dead girl” show- Dead Like Me). You may have seen him on Las Vegas, Charmed or Gideon’s Crossing. He’s also going to be in X3.
Excellent action shots!
And close-up of Sugie.
