My Gram August 26, 1918 – September 3, 2004. Mother to two. Grandmother to four. Great-grandmother to four – and a fifth on the way. Much loved. I think we’re going to miss you more than we ever realized, Gram.

I’m leaving for the airport in the morning. I’ll be back next Saturday. Be good, y’all.

She’ll be there waiting for all of her loving family when it’s your time, also, so don’t think she’s gone. Life after life, that’s my belief.

  19. Oh Robyn, I’m so sorry. Your Gram was beautiful, and the best part of her will stay with you and your family always. Sending love, hugs and prayers to all of you, and wishing you a safe trip.

  20. Robyn, I’m so sorry for your family’s troubles. It’s too bad you missed seeing her to say goodbye, but on the other hand, it might be a blessing to have missed seeing her in pain, which obviously has distressed some of your other family members.
I hope that you can find moments during your sorrow where you laugh at happy memories- that’s what was most comforting to our family when my stepdad died. I’m sure many in the small town where he was from would have found it scandalous, but thinking up “Gus-isms” felt like the best way to honor what we loved about him.
Have a safe trip and you’ll be in the thoughts of all your readers, I’m sure.

  26. I’m so sorry for your family’s loss. She seems to have been a wonderful woman and I know that she’ll be greatly missed. You know it’s strange and wonderful at the same time that as one life is ending another is beginning with this new baby on the way. I know that this new baby will never replace your Gram, but it is like life has come full circle. Now that you have a new little angel to join your family, your Gram could leave this world knowing that you guys would be looked after.
I don’t how to say what I mean so I hope I’m not offending. I just know that my nephew was born mere days after my grandfather had died, and although he was greatly missed and couldn’t be replaced, we felt so fortunate to be apart of the circle of our family’s life. Our family felt connected as one angel entered our lives and one angel left. I hope you have a safe trip and you and your family will be in my prayers.
