Guess What? Oh, don’t get excited. He’s not ours. My sister-in-law, Lee, and brother, Tracy, were in Alabama this weekend (Lee’s mother passed away late last week), and before they left Lee saw the picture of the kitten on the pet store page and just fell in love. Tracy gave me the go-ahead yesterday morning, and I ran to the pet store and adopted the kitten, spent the day playing with him (we thought the kitten was a girl, by the way, until Fred pointed out that it wasn’t so), and when Lee and Tracy got here last night, Lee took one look and fell even harder in love. Tracy, Lee, and Mireya didn’t stay nearly long enough, by the way. It was a lot of fun sitting around and talking with them and watching the kitten play. I think they should just move closer. Though why anyone would move to Alabama… 🙂 He’s so damn sweet, y’all. It was hard to let them leave with the kitten this morning, but I’m sure Miz Poo’s heart would have been broken if we’d kept him – he slept with me last night, and Miz Poo spent the night under the couch. I do not, however, envy Tracy and Lee the 13-hour drive home. I’m sure the kitten’s howling his little head off at this very moment. His name, by the way, is Gizmo. I think that’s a pretty perfect name for him. And Lee, you know you’re obligated to take 10,000 pictures of him as he gets bigger, right? :)]]>

Oh My! He looks JUST like a cozy patchwork quilt! These pics made my dreary morning a lot brighter…;’)
Damn! I saw the first pic and said “Oh! They got a kitten” (outloud) and was disapointed after reading he’s not yours. I mean…four, there’s room for one more 😉 He’s adorable, and I love the name.
I 2nd the 10,000 picture obligation!! What a cutie pie.
Robyn. You need another kitten. Just for the sake of my wanting to live through it, while not actually having said kitten myself.
He’s BEAUTIFUL!
Say – that’s what *I* am doing, living vicariously through Lee and Tracy! 🙂
I am in LOVE. That sweet little face! And you can just SEE how soft his fur is!!!
But poor Miz Poo. Is she speaking to you today?
You’re such a tease! And he IS a beautiful kitty. I just love those muted patches.
The kitten is a girl, I believe, because that color, diluted tortoiseshell, does (almost) never occur on male cats:-)
It’s a boy?! Wow. Male calicos are very, very rare. What a cute kitty.
What an adorable kitten! Come on, you know you and Fred really and truly (deep in your heart of hearts) want a cuddly kitten. Just think of all the precious pix you could get AND share with us, your readers. As for your other, older cats…I’ve found that the youthful antics of kittens will liven up the oldsters eventually! 🙂
Two words: guest entries.
😀
That is a very sweet little kitten! Looking at those pictures makes me want to cuddle up with him and love on him all day!
Gizmo was my kitty of 7 years. She was black and white though and it fit her too.
I think I could not give that kitty to its rightful owner,,I had a calico just like it as a teenager named Callie (yeah I know really original). They grow up to be just as beautiful as adults.
I am jealous.. I want a new kitty.
Miz Poo is very much speaking to me today. She did do a dramatic little “I can’t BELIEVE you would do this to me!” yesterday, but I think having people in the house that she didn’t know kind of erased the kitten from her memory. She’s definitely lookin’ for the love today.
And Gizmo’s definitely male. He has what’s left of a ball sack, as Fred pointed out to me!
Cool Cat! And a boy calico to boot!
As I clicked on the bookmark for your website I thought to myself “Why the hell am I checking for a new entry on a SUNDAY!?? She NEVER updates on the weekends…” well, HA ON ME!
You’re right, that cat could be nothing but a Gizmo….through and through!
OHHH- how wonderful you people are!!
Now if the rest of the world would listen to Bob Barker and get their pets spayed and neutered we wouldn’t have to have all the ugly stuff!
I am pretty sure that male tortoise shell or calicos are unable to reproduce- that they are sterile. We had one (MoeJoe) when I was a kid and that is what the vet told us- he wouldn’t neuter him for that reason- they are very rare. Who knows- I could be talkin’ outa my butt!
Still no sign of Fancypants??
Gizmo is absolutely the most beautious little kitty! I can’t wait until I get divorced and can have kitties of my own! DH (dickhead, not dear hubby) is allergic!
The fourth picture down of him sleeping is the most adorable thing ever.
And at least he got adopted by someone you know so you can hear how he’s doing. 🙂
I would love to see a picture of that kitten next that monster sized cat of yours!
I love kittens – so cute, and so deeply stupid. I want another one.
We’re home! And YES, Gizmo DID howl pretty much the whole way. But we forgave him ever time we took him out for a peek. He is now terrorizing Dulcinea and sniffing everything in the house. I’m very happy with my Gizmo and it was SO good to see you! Thanks for everything!
Oh yeah, and roger on the pictures. I’ll get right on it.
Awwwwww, what a sweetheart, and his fur looks sooooo soft!
I have to say, I’m glad y’all are posting to say how rare male calicos are, because when Fred pointed out the proof of maleness, I said “But calicos are always female!”, and he looked at me like I was crrrrrrrrazy.
arghhhh! fights uncontrollable urge to run down to the pet store!!!
Robyn – i’m a bit confused…I don’t mean to be all stalkerish, but is you SIL named Lee or Kate?
It’s Lee, but she posts as Kate. I should probably just refer to her as Kate to eliminate confusion. 🙂
